How the winner is chosen...
This year’s search for the UAE’s most stylish home introduced us to a plethora of budding stylists and decorators who showed a keen interest and aptitude for interior decorating, all aspiring to create a practical yet personal home without the help of professional interior designers.
Selecting the shortlisted finalists for InsideOut’s Home of the Year 2019 was a difficult choice but the selection was based on their creativity, commitment, attention to detail, resourcefulness and overall design story. From spacious villas to bijou apartments, bought and rented, no two homes are alike and each one demonstrates individual style and character.
While choosing our shortlist was far from easy, harder still was picking the winner. Our panel of expert judges deliberated the design merits and impact of each home, which were showcased through video walk-throughs of the homes, a curated look-book of photos, and video interviews with the shortlisted finalists, who described their design choices, home aesthetic, plus any challenges they faced with turning their bought or rented property into a home they love. The judges also had to assess how well the home would work as our magazine cover, with a hero shot from each home designed as a mock cover.
A few days ago, over lunch at Cosentino’s sleek showroom in Dubai Design District, the judges rated each entrant according to criteria carefully tailored to highlight aspects that would make the winner stand out. While all the homes jostled for the top spot, there can only be one winner ... find out tonight on social media!
