These stunning artworks from Kristel Bechara’s new collection celebrates women and feminism. The dual collections entitled ASK A WOMAN and INAMORATA are odes to the women who inspire the artist, which she expresses through her signature patterns and vibrant colours. The portraits of women from all walks of life capture their strengths, weaknesses, wit, laughter, joy, tears and refusal to conform.

Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, Frida Kalho, Madonna and Angelina Jolie are among the iconic women featured in the statement portraits that evoke strong reactions. 

Fairuz, the Arab world’s most famous singer, whose emergence paralleled Lebanon’s transformation from a backwater to  beacon of culture for the region; Audrey Hepburn, embodying the alternative feminine ideal; and Sophia Loren, who famously said 'I’d rather eat pasta and drink wine than be a size zero.' suggesting beauty is the happiness derived from being comfortable with yourself.


The Dubai-based Lebanese artist has been creating artwork that represents a sense of joy and freedom for more than a decade. Her methods involve characteristic stencil-like drawings and sketching combined with modern mixed media lines to form multi-layered fantasy paintings. Her art was recognised at World Art Dubai 2018, where her Beauty in Diversity collection received the UAE Resident Artist Award.
