Crate and Barrel Middle East has teamed up with three regional designers to launch its very first line of Arabesque dinnerware and décor inspired by calligraphy art and oriental colours. While Lebanese product design studio Kashida moulds 3D calligraphy into functional pieces, UAE-based Silsal Design House infuses artistic Arabic calligraphy into tableware, and the Bahrain-based Amina Gallery blends classical and contemporary to create timeless home accessory designs.
Teal is the new neutral for those that like to be bolder with their colour choices. It’s striking depth of tone can add captivating charm and drama to the tabletop especially when mixed with precious metals or paired with other striking tones, like burnt orange, sapphire or emerald. We love the glamorous teal and gold tableware sets from Saudi Arabian brand Aura, blending luxury, tradition and home fashion. Their statement black dallah coffee sets also offer a modern twist on tradition and can be mixed-and-matched with the teal.
While blue and white is a classic scheme, Home Centre has given the palette a funky twist with its Cosmic Skies dinner set, blending clouds with the painterly blue "sky" design, and overlaid with glittering gold stars and constellations. With the crescent moon shape prominent in Islamic iconography and during Ramadan, this cosmic dinner set design complements a table styled with golden moons and stars that represent the spirituality of recent weeks.
Bestow guests with a an elegant soirée embellished with such precious stones and metals, gilt-edged serveware and soft, feminine shapes. Agate details are enjoying a resurgence in popularity, especially edged with fine gold or copper borders, encasing the rough yet precious stones with a luxurious finish. We love Jashanmal’s range of agate-adorned gold cutlery with handles in amethyst, jade and rose-quartz tones.
