Mix and match

With metallic a popular trend for 2018, you can confidently pair different metals in one space. Paper the walls in effervescent silver and offset with gold-framed coffee tables or brass lights, or accessorise a table top in mirrored silver with copper bowls or golden ornaments.

Leading the pack

While a variety of metals seem to be in fashion at the moment, silver has come to the fore as a must-have finish for the finer details. Silver studded chair backs, cabinet handles, lamp bases, and even silver-cast pineapples will help you get the look with a few subtle touches.

Textured tones

Interior designers often use soft grey shades when creating a warm, cosy ambience while maintaining a neutral base palette. Add a hint of drama to the backdrop with wallpaper sporting Art Deco motifs or a textured statement wall (try a cement mosaic or stacked brickwork tiles in a metallic sheen). Layer grey furniture with shimmery fabrics – iridescent throws and cushions and plush rugs are an easy style update.
