This villa in La Riviera Estates has been decorated in a contemporary style with the main colour schemes based on jewels such as topaz, diamond, sapphire, emerald and ruby. Interior designer Louisa Mackley opted for furniture in natural colours, introducing the main hues with drapes and accessories.

Two minutes off Al Khail Road, near the Jumeirah Village Circle, lies La Riviera Estates, a development that is the perfect combination of discretion-meets-convenience. According to Nick Nuziale, senior residential consultant at Better Homes, it's also one of Dubai's latest up-and-coming areas, close enough to everything one needs to be comfortable, including grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment, schools and main roads, but "far enough away from the noise and hype of the city for one to feel like they can sit back and take a breather," says Nuziale.

Decorated by independent interior designer, Louisa Mackley, some villas at La Riviera Estates are ready for immediate viewing. Giving her thoughts on the homes, she says, "they're great for families and newly married couples. A family villa is all about comfort, and because it's a place where loved ones spend the most time together, decor and finishes should be carefully thought through, taking practicality and aesthetics into account."

While the villas in this development are ready for immediate viewing, the surrounding gardens and landscaping will take approximately one more year to complete. "Some may view this as a problem," says Nuziale, "but I encourage people to see it as an opportunity to invest. The villas' selling prices are excellent at the moment and, given the current market situation, I predict that they will become fantastic investment properties with good capital appreciation potential in the future. Once the project is 100 per cent complete, I am sure prices will rise quickly. If it is value for money you're after, this is certainly an area to look into soon."

The four-bedroom villas, distinctly European in style, offer a maid's room, balconies, family room, one guest bathroom, a garden and a covered double garage. Boasting ample storage and living space, the villas are finished with high quality materials, including types of marble.

"The amenities are being worked on but, once ready, will include an outdoor pool and a double-storey gym," Nuziale says. Buyers at La Riviera Estates have the option of purchasing fully-furnished or unfurnished villas. "Either way," says Nuziale, "the layout of the space in the villas allows for complete creativity in terms of decor."

Mackley agrees, saying "these homes are fantastic blank canvases, especially for first-time home owners. They offer a huge amount of space and one can go crazy experimenting with different furniture, colour and accessories."

According to Nuziale, La Riviera Estates' unfurnished villas are currently on the market for Dh1.6 million, while furnished villas will set investors back Dh1.7 million. "People are welcome to come and see the villas now with a view to moving into their new home in about a year's time," he adds.
