Winner Claudia Baliyan, originally from Miami, was inspired by the ocean, and the decor of her Dubai Marina apartment is a modern take on chic coastal style. Claudia’s home – and all our shortlisted entries – will appear in future issues.

The shortlist

We recognised six worthy contenders in our first Awards. Along with our overall winner, here are the other five:

From left: Finalists Dana Jaber for her stylish villa in Al Barsha, Dubai, and Helena Brown for her lovely home in Umm Suqeim, Dubai. Highly commended Noura Al Ramahi for her unique villa in Golf Gardens, Abu Dhabi.

From left: Semi-finalists Simona Bravo for her charming home in Motor City, Dubai, and Jenelle Al Ramahi for her imaginative villa in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi. ..  ...

A celebration of style!

Our Home of the Year 2014 party was held in the fabulous surroundings of the Nawwara Bar at the JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai.

A fantastic time was had by all…

Beautiful, eclectic, cohesive, dramatic – these were just some of the words used by the judges to describe the homes that were entered by so many stylish readers into the magazine’s very first Home of the Year Awards, in association with Marina Home Interiors. We were completely overwhelmed by the high standards of so many, and our judging session (over a delicious lunch at Toko, Vida Downtown) was full of debate – but we got there in the end!
