Now in its fifth year, the InsideOut Home of the Year 2019 event was once again an exciting affair, with the who's who of the interior design industry attending a cocktail soiree at The Oberoi hotel, in Dubai's Business Bay, on April 30, to find out which stunning home would be crowned the winner.

The Home of the Year awards was held at The Oberoi hotel, aglow with pink lights and abuzz with guests.

This year, the Home of the Year award went to Valentina Piscopo and her husband Michael Ogden, who have created a chic retreat in Arabian Ranches, dressing their three-bedroom villa with African objet, custom-made furniture and ethically-sourced accessories that all tell a unique story of family, childhood, travel and their times together as a couple in Africa, London and Dubai.

Valentina and Michael were presented with a special event edition of the May issue of InsideOut magazine, celebrating their contemporary home on the cover, with a full home tour and interview inside, plus a cheque of Dh25,000 from the award sponsors 2XL Furniture and Home Decor, and a bespoke trophy.

Asif Siddiqui and Amit Yadav from 2XL Furniture and Home Decor, the award spsonors, present the winners Valentina Piscopo and Michael Ogden with a Dh25,000 cheque, with InsideOut editor Mairead Walsh.

Following a four-month-long campaign by InsideOut magazine to find the UAE’s most stylish abode, the guests were eager to find out which of the seven stunning shortlisted homes would claim the prized top spot.

This year, while all the finalists were based in Dubai, they comprised villas and apartments, rented and owned. Each couple or family presented a natural flair for blending style with functionality, creativity and resourcefulness, attention to detail and finishes, plus unique character to create inimitable and inspiring home aesthetics and stories.

On the night, the InsideOut team and the award’s panel of judges were joined by a throng of fellow industry professionals – an exclusive audience of interior designers, stylists, influencers, tastemakers and design professionals – who celebrated the announcement at a cocktail party held on the rooftop of The Oberoi.

With wonderful ambient weather and a central pool feature aglow with floating pink lights, the guests soaked up a stylishly decorated venue, with accessories from Desert River, floral arrangements and a Thai-inspired seating nook by Dubai Garden Centre, and a sophisticated lounge area by 2XL Furniture and Home Decor, where guests could relax and chat.
